I think that your video card would be holding you back for gaming..
Do a test with Cinebench, it shows both CPU and GPU performance.

I’m not even sure you can upgrade the CPU…
If I’m not mistaken the highest your Mobo can handle is AM3..I don’t think they sell them anymore..
If you have to upgrade the CPU..You might need a new Motherboard..
Thanks for the feedback. I downloaded maxon and scored 68CB for the CPU and for open GL 3.71 fps. Pretty horrendous compared to all the new peripherals considering most of my rig was built in 09. Can I build a decent gaming rig for 750-800 dollar range or should I save a bit more money. I want my hardware to be able to at-least play most games in medium settings 40fps range would suffice
That’s a terrible score…Must be something faulty there..I would have thought that Vid card would have got at least 40 fps. (my HD7770 gives 80) That CPU score is worse that I would have thought too!
Check that you have the latest drivers for it all..Especially the Video drivers from AMD.
You should be able to build something reasonable for your price.
Suggest an on line store where you can buy from if you need help.
I think the CPU may already be bottlenecking the performance of your GPU
You’d probably have to upgrade your enitre system (with the exclusion of RAM, case, HDD, maybe PSU depending on upgrades) The money saved from keeping those parts will allow you to build a decent gaming rig given your budget.
I tried Cinebench on my laptop:
i3 processor, GT 420M gpu:
OpenGL = 21.61
CPU = 132 cb
The odd thing about that is my 420M gpu is faster than a full 620 Gpu graphics card..
But I’d say your system has issues..
