Burning fails

I have a DVD RW in my pc but now when I try to burn something, it says cant finalise disk at once and burning fails. I have checked the aspi layer and it says its ok and functional. Earlier this happended and I reinstalled the aspi. I use nero 9 portable and used to use nero 8 before that because my pc is 8 yrs old and I cant use the latest version of nero.Please help me out.I am puting the log file for reference.Thanks a lot.

Get rid of the Nero bloatware and use some sensible burning software with quality media.
Also, clean your optical drive lens every 20 burns or so.

I have downloaded both. I am a regular user of ashampoo music studio and it works good. Ashampoo has very nice products.
If you get errors with a different software, get a new optical drive. you can get a decent OEM SATA 22x DVD RAM ODD for about £15
The main question is what are you doing

Friends,Thanks for the advices.Actually I was justing taking back up of my data normally in form of rar files, pictures, ms office files i.e. burning data disk. I think the problem was with the Dual layer DVDs I was using which was of this make and model-
Disc type: DVD+R DL (Double Layer)
Manufacturer id: MBIPG101
Media id: R10
Write speeds: 4.0x…8.
DVD I use normally is-
Disc type: DVD+R DL (Double Layer)
Manufacturer id: MKM
Media id: 001
Write speeds: 2.4x…4.0x
But when I used single layer DVDs, the burning went well without any error. I am using Ashmpoo Burning Studio 11 now which I think is very good.Thanks again for the replies.
P:S: This time my regular Dual Layer DVDs were not available and I used some other and may be the problem occured with that or the burning speed was high and my recorder didint support it because my PC is old. I normally let the device choose the writing speed because in the past when I tried to write CD/DVD at the speed I want, they all failed until l let the device choose the speed which is maximum. Lets see when my favourite and trusted Dual layer DVDs come(out of stock in the market) and let me try them. As for the optical drive is concerned as adviced by good friend in the above post, my PC is a old one which have only IDE connctors not SATA and I am looking forward to purchase a new PC.
It probably is the discs.
You could always flash the firmware in the Optiarc drive, Liggy and Dee have good stuff.

check if ur dvd is set for dvd9. if yes, set it to dvd5 setting it should work.
by defaukt nero sets to dvd9 for burning.
