BluRay player shut down afther 30 min

I have this Toshiba BluRay player BDX2250KC. I tested it tonight by playing an MKV movie that was loaded onto my USB flash drive and I plugged into the back of the BluRay player. However, every 30 minutes or so the player would unexpectedly shut off.
Works fine ,if I use DVD disc[u]
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

could be a defective unit…hard to tell tried to look online and couldnt find anything… its never done with with a DVD/Bluray disk tho?

I google it and found out I wasn’t the only one having this problem
