Uploaded + rapidgator has slow downloads. I recommend billionuploads, clicknupload, 180uploads, and so on. You know the free ones that requires no registration of account in order to download.
You get trouble only if you live in Dictatorship and communist country like UK and USA.
So yes, its not legal and you can get caught if somebody is watching…and somebody is always watching. Governments share this info thesedays.
Makes no difference which host you use or site ( however, torrent sites are hotter than sites) but the trick is to use a vpn account if you want to download. A proxy lets you view a site but gives ZERO protection if you download from the site.
For this you need a decent vpn service, like the one I use. A different IP is what you need to stay clean.

Proxies can be fine for HTTP downloads if you set up your browser properly (proxy all types of links, block unneeded scripts, etc, that can leak your IP). It’s not like torrents where they can never 100% protect you.
Depends what country you live in, and what their view on copyright infringement and piracy is. If you live in a western nation and download a few movies and albums for personal use, you won’t get in trouble per se (or very rarely) – people usually get in trouble when they start distributing pirated content or when they start using that pirated software/music with intention to make a profit in which case Hollywood and big corporations will do anything in their power to take you down and make an example out of you. If you are caught downloading pirated software or music, especially through Torrents without a proxy or a VPN you run a risk of your ISP throttling your bandwidth and issuing you with warnings. In some western countries like US the ISP’s will even report you to the authorities if you keep doing it. Stay safe.
You can get in to trouble. But do they really going to waste time on you? Not likely unless your a high profile target. Your ISP could and can disconnect your service. I believe you have to pay any fee associated to the disconnecting or something like that. Of course you cant open another account
VPN is the way to go. Do use free service. Paid one are the best and its really cheap.

Might as well say what you use. Its not like your going to get stab for saying out in public. I used CyberGhost for a few years now still have 3 years subscription left.
It’s a risk. Example like sex if you use a condom there is still a chance someone may get pregnant. There is always risk.
