August 6th, 2016

Hello i have windows 8.1 pro 64bit installed on my computer, i have a windows 8 pro product key (NOT 8.1) how can i reinstall windows on my new hard drive?
Answer #1
insert the dvd , reboot the machine / start up , boot from CD (typically pressing F8 or F11 or F10) during startup , select DVD , follow onscreen instructions
Answer #2
i don’t have the dvd. only got the product key
Answer #3
then download an untouched iso from the board here or microsoft themselves, burn it to disk and use that. Then simply use your key to activate it. Most posts here are 8.1 so don’t know if u can use a valid 8 key on 8.1. You might have to install 8 first and then use windows update to update to 8.1
Answer #4
Get clonezilla, boot from it (you may need to disable secure boot), create a system image to an external medium, swap hdds, boot again from clonezill, restore. Done.
