System Freezing – ?

August 2nd, 2016

Recently I have been having problems with my Win7x64 system freezing at random times for from a few seconds to perhaps a minute. The internet connection seems to drop too and I have been having problems downloading large files due to this. The CPU level drops down low, so it is not something that is taking all the resources. I have run antivirus (symantec Endpoint) and Malawarebytes and neither show anything. What is the best way to troubleshoot what is going on. I called up the event viewer, but really have no experience with this tool and am not sure how to find what I need there. Darn annoying!

More then likely it is one of your background programs doing a search and update type of thing.. Run msconfig, and you can see what progs run on start up.. As stated more or less probably one of the running programs trying to do something which stops your comp.. Id start with disabling any startup program which you dont need or isnt microsoft related. If the problem continues go through the programs and see if any have a regular update, or turn them all off (not including ms start ups) and see if the problem persists..

Is there a way to use event viewer to see what is going on? I have heard of the tool but when I call it up I am not really sure where to start. What is strange with this is when it freezes it does not appear much CPU power is being used in task manager.

There is… Some one posted a prog to show what is running on your system to the second in the last week… Perfect for you, and interesting, but I didnt/dont need it so cant remember it.. It will be on this site and specifically state what the prob is.. But what ive stated all ready should be enough…

As mentioned event viewer can be a powerful tool to resolve issues (if you know how to use it), however if you don´t its useless. More info is required…… what are your system stats (CPU,RAM,GPU etc), how many things are running at start up (click start, type run, then type msconfig then enter, see how many apps are running and disable any you don want to start (only if you know what they are, list anything you don´t know), there is also the possibility of malware/virus, but this initial info could point us to a resolution (you could run Malwarebytes, Spyhunter or similar anyway).
Answer #9
You could start with a clean boot to see how things go from there.

This is what I was talking about…
What ever you use, you have to write down when the comp goes slow and sees what is running.. That should show what is clogging the comp up… (Off to the footy…)
