Maybe the problem is your anti-virus..All cracked software will be picked up as False positive…
Looking at the replies to this topic, there would appear to be no complaints..

I have an old psp8 rar and antivirus is saying virus but it is a false positive, I have had it for years
Possibly all the same files – just re-linked and re-upped as new stuff?
It’s hard thing to say – it MIGHT be a false positive… but do you risk all you have for a program?
It’s like buying a guard dog then ignoring him when he barks…
Corel has been pretty aggressive at making AV’s report files as infected even when they are not; however, you can’t just ignore can you.
You have to remember that you can pay an anti-virus company to report a file as infected
That is true…You can’t ignore a virus warning..
But are you telling me that everybody who posting Paintshop Pro 8 is infected with a virus…
mine works fine…

UGG .. I hate that secure link box lol
Nah, not at all. But I run it through virus total and see how many engines flag the file; when in doubt, PEStudio to see more about the offending file.
And finally, use Spoon (or whatever it was renamed to) to create an isolated virtual app.
Nah, not at all.
The OP states in his topic title every copy..That means all..
Oh lol …
‘not at all’ was answering your question ‘but are you telling me …’
you can try psp7, there is not much difference between psp7&8 Fosi posted psp7 and it is clean.
I found it here today downloaded scanned with malwarebytes clean

The whole “false positive” thing seems to have finally taken hold. I never believed it, still don’t, mostly because my antivirus is detecting specific names of known viruses, not just some “possible threat.” It gives you all the information of its history too. You gotta remember also that the best viruses, from the point of view of those who want them on your computer, are the ones that don’t slow down your machine at all. They don’t break anything. They’re just there to collect information without you knowing it. A virus that breaks a machine is worth nothing to the advertisers. To make money off of you they need you to be surfing the internet. It’s your usage of the internet that makes them money. Hell, that info IS the new gold!
And i have plenty of programs, in fact my entire archive, that doesn’t alert my antivirus. Key Makers/keygens, patches, you name it. When it’s done right there should not be an alert. I really don’t think false positives are what the name suggests. Not to say that they can never occur, but when they do they won’t have a specific name of a virus. lol
Why don’t you upload the file in question and we could take a look for you. If you like that is.
I’m assuming that it’s one file of the many many that there are for the app.
For this one> https://www..org/viewtopic.php?t=20803810&highlight=
the alert says:
That’s the only one i still had in my history.
Is there a particular file that is being flagged? I’m not feeling the couple of gigs in free mode atm
there is no actual scene for cracking applications , they are mostly either cracked by a 1 single individual or a few people. so you are at their mercy for getting a malware free cracked application. it is different for scene where games and movies are released which there is a competition and sources you can check the hash values of original files which are released by scene to see if they are altered. thats why i never use a cracked application of any kind but fortunately there is a free/open source software on most cases which have the same quality of paid ones and even better. so you can use them but i dunno if there is any for the application you asked for.
so about your specific question , you should detect the file which is flagged by av by name. after naming it ; i assume you have multiple versions of this software and all should be in .rar archive. so you will open every archive with winrar , just open do not extract and seek the file flagged by av. when you have found it in all rars , check the rightmost column to see their CRC32 value which is a value of 8 characters , numbers and letters combined.
if all are same , then it is more likely that it is a false positive , if all are different then i would stay away from all of those where risk is really high. it is just a basic method of danger assessment for any user , although it doesnt have %100 certain results. for certain results you should run the file which is flagged in a sandbox for example and watch its behaviors such as network activity with wireshark to see what it is really doing., ofc all those requires certain level of knowledge.
Yeah, i don’t even go as far as to sandbox it anymore. I just have my settings set to delete the entire archive if there’s any detection. This seems to be the best method for me as i haven’t been infected in many years now. Before that i must have reinstalled windows because of a virus…hell IDK, 50 times? 100? Seems like i was doing it at least once a month for a stretch there. Thanks for the info though.
I use the release by CORE and it’s clean.
Corel.PaintShop.Pro.X8.v18.0.0.124.Multilingual.ISO-CORE

Is this what is supposed to be in that folder?
it is in scene release form and i can confirm there is a release labeled as that but strange thing is , i couldnt find the contents of the release.

this is the release you have but as you can see “rar” files part is empty so we can not double check crc32 values. if personally tried , investigated and used it without issues then you can trust. you should be also aware of that it is really common av software flag cracked applications other than anything else but cracked applications also serve as intermediary for malware for the most among all . and for you info , you cant get infected by looking the contents of a rar file even if it is full of malware so you dont need to immediately delete an archive. use winrar 5.30 which has no known vulnerability for self executing malware while navigating the archive with winrar then you will be safe for sure. on the other hand if rar archive is sfx archive which is “self extracting archive” the thing i told may not apply. i m telling this cuz it seems last malware infection put a traumatic effect on you which makes you over cautious. being cautious is a good thing but being over cautious is not which may lead you to take unnecessary precautions such as immediately deleting an archive while it is almost impossible that it can cause any harm.
All the scene groups out there distribute their releases packed and split into many small RAR files (for reasons we can’t comprehend or codify). Here’s how to extract them (make sure you have the latest WinRAR v5.30 installed on your PC):
The scene group split their files based upon a long standing practice established when download speeds were slower and incidences in transmission errors were higher.
Smaller files made it easier to download just those files that had a problem.
Use Virustotal.com they will detect everything!
I dunno.. I just use GIMP. IT’s actually free. Scroll down for windows.

Just search on google of anything that you want to do with gimp.
and I think i had photoshop once.. and i don’t have it anymore.. :-/
