4K monitors and tiny Software displays
January 27th, 2020
I bought an HP Spectre 360 15″ /Win 10 recently. It has Core i7 with 16 GB RAM and SSD. However, it is quite disappointing because so many of my programs (Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Techsmith Snagit…even the chat screens with HP) all become microscopic and unreadable. I have played with the Display settings but the icons stay extremely small. Even video players (VLC and MPC) have microscopic control details.
What have you used or done to make your programs larger and icons more accessible??? Thanks!
Don’t know if you have tried this, but here are the usual methods../Changing DPI scaling.. (resolution should be kept at the monitors native res)

Thanks . I basically have done everything short of the Reg edit. I also created manifest files for individual programs. However, programs like VLC & MPC are microscopic. I was chatting with an HP customer service rep and had to use Magnifier to chat with him. Oh well…let’s see what Microsoft comes up with.
LOL @ 3.840×2.160 on 15,6″
You cant reasonably use it but you bought it anyway.
Best simply change your resolution to “normal” 1920 x 1080.
This really proves how manufacturers just want to jump on the hype train. Even 1920×1080 is too much for 15″. for 15″ a good res is something like 1440×900. 4K on that is just size insane. Your only option is to use a lower resolution, but that means it will be less sharp, and defeats the purpose of having 4K at all.
4K is good for a minimum 50″, preferaby 65″

But who wants 4k for programs its over kill unless as you have as say on a 50-60″ screen then you can have multiple windows , 4k is good for movies and games thats all , I have a 4k monitor for a gaming rig and drop the res when I need to run a application .
