If your talking about the i5-2500K, I don’t think there is one better until Bulldozer comes out. Maybe an Opteron, lol. AMD is cheaper than Intel because its not as good as Intel. For $200 you can get the i5, that is a pretty solid deal. Guess you could get the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, but the i5 still benchmarks better.

Speaking of AMD, when are the new Bulldozer coming out? I’m thinking of replacing my almost 3 years old Intel Q8300 with a better, new AMD processor.
Answer #3
I will tell you, but Bulldozer is not all that great from what I hear.

Tell your friend to go with what is best for there needs. Not everyone need’s is the same when it comes to computers. Little over one year ago I built a custom PC with a AMD X4 965 Black edition. It play’s every single game I throw at just fine without any issue.
I’m not saying AMD is better then INTEL or the other way around at all. For starters I really don’t care which processor is better or not. Only I can judge what meets the requirements I needed.
Answer #5
he has a Intel motherboard so i would use the Intel products
if he wants to use amd then he will need to buy a amd motherboard as well
Answer #6
Depending how old the motherboard is and all. There could be a small chance he/she would need to buy a new motherboard too. Since we don’t know the model number of his/her board. We all cant be 100% sure which processor will fit on the current motherboard.

AMD FX (Bulldozer) processors are to be released on October 12th and are even cheaper than we thought! Eight-core FX-8150 and FX-8120 will carry pricing of just $245 and $205, respectively. As for the six cored FX-6120, that is expected to come in at $175

You know that Intel is worried?
Of course its excellent value for money, a 980 beater for 1/4 of its price.
Surely you know that we shouldn’t pay that much for hardware, people that come to a Warez forum is quite possibly not that loaded.

Let me get this straight, you want him to continue using LGA-775, a dead platform?

No, I didn’t. I specifically said “cheaper than we thought” because the chart had the old price which is more than $20 costlier for the FX-8150. These latest prices have been revealed just a few days back.
