Then the card reader is dead. Get a USB card reader. They are pretty cheap.
how possibly is dead and the lights are on when i connect SD card?!!

Maybe there is dirt on the contacts in your card reader ?
If you can get hold of an alcohol swab, try cleaning inside the slot (when it’s turned off)
Just because the lights are on, doesn’t mean anyone is at home, lol – it could still be dud.
uninstall the reader in device mgr, then reboot and windows will reinstall it
did/duz the reader show when empty ?
duz it still show in when empty ?
with the card/s in do they show in “windows disk mgt”
thank you edwoodweb they don’t show on windows 7 because they are hidded, if unhidde them they show
Do you have a live disk of some linux distro? If not then make a disk of Ubuntu and boot from disk (no need to install) and see if it works in Ubuntu.
Plus having a live linux disk can be very handy. From checking if hardware is working in other OS, to deleting viruses / files that refuse to be deleted under windows, and overwriting files which under windows wouldn’t be possible. Creating/Formatting partition, plugging a KNOWN infected pen drive and cleaning it without risking it via windows anti-virus etc. Plus its just a 700MB disk which I’m sure you won’t regret.

actually before i post my request her i reformated my OS, not because of the SD but because of some errors, and thought it will works after but unfortunatly it didn’t
do you think i still have to try Ubuntu of Centos live desk to test?
thank you

I have a conjecture that your Card Reader has gone dead. But if you want to be absolutely certain then you can use a Linux live-disk to check. Plus it might come handy in the situations mentioned in the above post.
All you lose in trying so is one CD and half-hour of time. But kindly be prepared IF it doesn’t work!
i tried with Linux and mounted the SD unfortunatly no vail,
Shah_Jahan, how possibly it broke but the motherboard is detecting it and the lights are on?

It sometimes happens with onboard card readers OR even with discrete USB ones, the system detects it, the light flashes and everything seems alright. BUT it doesn’t write on SDs.
Your best bet is now get a discrete USB card reader. There are some really cheap Chinese ones that work for a few days or weeks and then go dead. Try to get something that is a brand name and comes with a warranty. It will be several times costlier but will last pretty long.
Thank you Shah,
but buying new SD reader is not what i am looking for, and yes i know what you say i am MCSE/SA so still wanna get more info from others rather dan buying another one,
the Reader is detected on the BIOS either on the board also on the device manager,
so i am sure its Win7 bug!!!
You are really blowing things out of proportion,Just because it’s detected it doesn’t mean it’s in fully working
condition! an optical drive can be detected just the same yet not read any discs,This is no different. Considering
you already reinstalled your OS as well as tried a Linux Live CD it can’t possibly be an OS problem,The card reader
has simply gone bad,Deal with it!
if it Dead Why MD and MS card are working?

Presumably because they are inserted into different slots, which are working ?
