Fresh Windows 7 Installation and iTunes !?
March 17th, 2014
Basically I want to retain my iTunes and iPhone settings after installing fresh windows 7.
I have no idea what will iTunes do after I install new iTunes in fresh windows. I want iTunes to get all data from my iPhone including apps, contacts and other settings. Music doesn’t matter.
Should I simply install new windows and new iTunes and sync my iPhone with it or is there some other way/software for it?
I don’t want iTunes to wipe out everything form my phone!
Thanks in advance (:
How to back up your media in iTunes

For Apps, you will need to download IPAs again, and to add them into iTunes before SYNC!
I have got all the IPAs.. should I just drag and drop them into iTunes after a fresh install?
Now I am only worried about contacts/messages…
Backup the files in
C:\Users\USERNAME\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications
After your fresh installation, install iTunes and Restore the files (shown above) back into the same folder.
This should retain your IPA files.
For Contacts and Messages, as long as your desired backup files are still in your iPhone (means they are not deleted), you may back it up again through iTunes again after a fresh installation. However, shall you have already back up the files through iTunes and delete them away from your phone, you may similarly backup the following folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
and restore back to the above folder after your fresh install.

Yap, just simple drag n’ drop in iTunes after you format your computer.
Contacts… why don’t you SYNC them with Gmail account? (or download some App from AppStore and it will backup your Contacts)
SMS.. SSH sms file
How to save Contacts Database:
SSH into the iPhone and go to /private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook
you will find 2 files there. save them on your computer.
How to save Messages Database:
SSH to your phone and go to /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS
Save sms.db on your computer
