Android 2.2 connect to ad-hoc?

I googled most of the replies was a year over.. that android doesnt yet support ad-hoc, now can i? i set up ad-hoc network through my laptop, i downloaded this wifi analyzer at the market and he can see my ad-hoc. but at the wifi settings it cant.. , i’m using htc evo 4g, new to android world.
