GTA IV poor performance – i7 2600, Geforce GTX 570, 8GB RAM

November 1st, 2013

I have downloaded GTA IV and installed all the patches
1.1
1.2
1.3
1.4
1.5
1.6
1.7
I am getting low fps about 30-40 only with my new pc, and the graphics sucks even if I put the anisotropic filtering to 16X!
How to fix the problem?
Thank you!
P.S. Crysis 2 works smooth on ultra high graphics at 60 frames constantly!

Answer #1
Use the 1.4 patch only. Don’t go any higher, it’s not necessary. You should have better performance with that.
Edit:
Forgot to mention too, don’t expect very high fps with GTA IV. Even with that card. It was a poorly coded game for PC so expect 60 fps at the most. Though You only need 30 fps to make it run stable.
Answer #2
I didn’t install any patch, It’s running super smooth on max settings. So as EFLC.
60 frames always.

Just re-install whole game and play.
Don’t install any patches.
Have fun.
Answer #3
But the patches are used to improve performance, aren’t they?

Answer #7
I play on a i5 2500k and ATI 5770 and I get around 55-60 fps. Weird. I use 1.7.
Answer #8
I think you should install the game (a clean install)
then apply the last patch(because it doesnt require previous patches)
Answer #9
Make sure to disable clip capture, it can give you a small FPS boost.

My FPS are mostly between 54 and 59, but sometimes it drops to 45.

Thanks in advance.
I just bought GTA IV a couple of weeks ago, ready for when I complete GTA SA.
I’ll use this advice!
