Installing Iso games to external hard drive?

October 7th, 2013

Ok my pirating friends my internal hard drive is only 500gigs and I dont like to drop below 200 gigs on it.
My question is, when I download games, can I start installing them via external hard drive and make a short cut to the game On my windows and be able to play the game?
Will the game be slower then if the game was installed on my internal hard drive how can this work?
Or do I need to buy another internal hard drive and just put it in my pc case?

It shouldn’t be any slower if the games are installed on a similar internal drive as your Operating system, unless you are using RAID 0 in your OS.
Installing direct to an external it will be very slow for gaming, as you are more than likely using USB 2.0.
If you were using Firewire 800 to connect the external it would probably be OK.
500 GB hdd’s are fairly inexpensive these days.

So if I buy another internal hard drive, and install it on my pc, do I have to install a operating system on it? What do you mean similar internal drive as my operating system?
I have windows 7 64bit. Change my bios settings to raid 0 and I wont have to worry about it?

No you can just buy another 3.5″ internal hard drive and install it into your computer as a storage only drive, only the boot drive needs a operating system on it.
you will just need to format it and you will be able to use it to install games or store files or whatever you want without needing to put up with the painful slowness of a external.

Yes. like jock says..Just instal it and go to Windows disk management and partition it if you wish, and format it, give it a drive letter and a name and it should appear in Windows Explorer..(You don’t need any Raid). When you install stuff, just point the installer to your new drive letter and all should be well..
