I have read that you need to install some software (display driver) to enable the following video chips on the system board.
My English is bad – so sorry.
Here – this is your notebook model, right. Download chipset and VGA driver:

Most laptops have the option to switch between integrated and dedicated video.

That’s probably it, it’s used to save power.
Try gaming and comparing your frames with ones off youtube.
The guy probably sold you without the graphics driver…it would then display the Intel. That’s what mine do when I delete my drivers..have to download
you have both, like mine does.
It uses NV Optimus to auto decide which gpu to use, but you can force it for things it’s doesn’t know about (like MPC HC video player).
Control panel – nv control panel – top menu “desktop” and tick “run with high performance processor”.
Now you can right click a file and choose what to run it on (It won’t always work – some programs don’t run of gpu’s).
IN NV CP you can also force to use nvidia gpu, but it’s better to leave it on auto, less power wasted.
To those that said both is correct, laptop theses day switch between integrated and dedicated to save battery power. If the integrated GPU can’t handle it then it will switch to the dedicated.
