Is MySQL free for my company?

Hey guys, i need some advice on a legal topic
my father has a company with about 15 people working for him.
He wants to make a database to keep track of all kind of information about his sales, employees, …
He is not selling anything that has to do with IT, not even close.
So is there a FREE mysql version (LEGAL OFCOURSE) that we can download and use ?

we want to host our own database on our own server, not on the internet…

Why not contact them and ask the quest, state you want to use the free MySQL Community Server and what you want to use it for..
Doesnt hurt asking, least you will get the correct answer and in writing..
As far as i can tell, someone correct me if im wrong, the licencing Fee’s is for when your embedding MySQL into your own software for distribution, IE, making money from using MySQL in your software..

I would like to advice u a NAS
Network Attached Storage.
I have one from synology
http://synology.com
They can host websites, Mysql databases, Photo station, File station.
Very very handfull and recomended for small offices.
