Errors Uprading from iphone 3.1.3 to 4.01?

shift+update from itunes will be good? and will not delete any current files on it? i just want to be sure before i go head and doing it… thanks!

ok im trying to upgrade to 4.01 from 3.1.3
but im getting errors like 3002.. etc.
what do i need to do to upgrade to 4.01 without losing data
Upgrading doesn’t delete anything mate.
So just go ahead & upgrade to 4.1
Best method is probably by connecting your iphone to your computer & use itunes to upgrade. Not sure if there are other methods anyway.
If you don’t care about jailbreaking, don’t read what’s written below & go ahead with your upgrading.
Make sure you backup your SHSH blobs after you upgrade to 4.1
How can you backup your SHSH blobs? & why?
you should still backup your SHSH hashes for 4.1. Do this by either letting Cydia keep them (�make my life easier�), or using Tiny Umbrella. This way you can always come back to an untethered, jailbreakable 4.1 on your devices after Apple has closed their 4.1 signing window (they�ll close the 4.1 window once they push out their next firmware version). If you fail to do this and ever need to restore to 4.1 again, you can still jailbreak but it will be a tethered JB (you�ll need to connect to your computer to finish the booting process, each and every time).

anyway i think i wont be upgrading to 4.1 for now since it will upgrade the baseband and i will lose the unlock…. ok i will just go head and upgrade via itunes using the shift+update select firmware 4.01.

its not my iphone i dont want the person angry at me for losing date hehe
since theres no way to go back to 3.1.3… i need be sure just in case anything go bad.. can’t downgrade either since theres no 3.1.3 shsh save for this iphone ..

yes i have thats the first thing i did before writing this thread on helpdesk.. using the latest.. tinyumbrella.. does it matter which version to use or it doesn’t
when i try to save shsh 3.1.3 it says its aleady to late.. and plus its been long ago since 3.1.3 came out i would assume it already closed since were in 4.0x firmware….
we talked today.. whats seems to be a problem?!
