Wii Homebrew SD Card Help

Ok so Ive already installed homebrew, burned a few games, everything works fine and dandy. Installed all the cIOS i need and ULoader along with a couple of other apps. Everything works even the new super mario bros game
My question is it now safe to completely format my sd card? Will it affect my Wii in any way if I format? I watched this one video that tells people that it is ok to format cards after installing homebrew. I just want to be sure about this.
Oh i almost forgot. As of right now, when i try to access my SD card from the Wii Options, it always freezes.
But regardless, the homebrew channel and everything else runs fine.

If you made a backup of the NAND then make a copy of it on your computer just in case you brick the wii. if you have not made a copy of the NAND then go ahead and format the SD card and the Wii should not freeze when you try to acces the sd card. Homebrew channel will not be effected.

You should not format a sd card,just delete what you don’t want on it,unless the card is only used on windows.
If you format a sd card with windows will will not work in a cell phone or most other devices.
