Far Cry 2 PROBLEM – SOLVED!

August 5th, 2016

Strange problem when starting game,
only splash screen and then everything closes.
take a look at log file if you have similar message:
Log (NuContext): Setup
Log (NuContext): Setup Log (NuContext): Setup
Error (NuCore): Unsupported function called from 05B423F6: IDXGIAdapter_CheckInterfaceSupport Error (Nucor): Unsupported function called from 05B423F6: IDXGIAdapter_CheckInterfaceSupport

this seams that you have problem with DX drivers.
In my case problem was my experimental installation of DX10 drivers for XP.
Solution was to delete these files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32 d3d10.dll
d3dx10.dll
d3dx10_33.dll
d3dx10d.dll
d3dx10d_33.dll
dxgi.dll
Nucleus.dll
Hope this saves somebody 4 hours of googling!

– In Vista, if you receive a black screen when starting up the game:
FiX
1. Right-click on the Far Cry 2 shortcut and select Properties.
2. Click on the Compatibility tab and check "Disable visual themes."
3. Click Apply and close.
4. Try running the game again
– If your game is running in windowed mode, alt-enter should fix this.

Also, Nvidia users, update your drivers to the latest full whql release
Also, if the game crashes to desktop while you try to load it, reduce the graphic settings. For me, if I enable anti-aliasing, or turn the graphics too high the game will crash when it tries to load a level. I thought my 8800GTS would be able to handle very high settings and it kept crashing. When i took everything down to High, it worked perfectly.

I’m AMD user (AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ BE; Gygabyte GA-M56S-S3; 2GB RAM 800; 9600GT 512MB) and I have no problem running it… (not anymore)
Do you meet minimum system requirements, the game is pretty demanding.
Try bee more specific with your problem
