Yes, there are. But the problem is this:
I’ve got a standard SONY motherboard, not a standard gigabyte one (most common). Plus I might have a not supported video card (Nvidia GT 540M).
Plus: I want Lion, not snow leopard.
Thats why I’d ask.
your wifi card and ethernet card are probably not compatible either,
go and have a check on the Insanely Mac forum

Vaio’s are just as expensive as MacBooks…if you wanted to run OSx, why didn’t you just get a MacBook instead?

This sony Vaio has been given to me for my study. At the time I bought it, it was € 1500,-. I wanted to have an atleast 15″ macbook PRO which costs atleast € 1750.
I couldnt afford the difference and no one wanted to offer me the difference, so I had no other option then choosing the vaio. (although I’m very happy with it, but I’m just jealous at all the other designers in my class which most of them have a macbook)
It will probably cost you more than $250 to get compatible parts – so you would have been better getting the macbook.
Anyway – you can do a lot more stuff on Windows than you can on Mac
have you tried googling ‘hackintosh’
it may be what wise-san was talking about, I didn’t check.
But that’s what friends of mine used
