Laptop HDD To Desktop

Hey, i took this hdd from my laptop which is sata, and i sticked it in my desktop formatted and installed windows 7 ultimate 64bit, the problem is its only showing me only 50gigs of space in reality i am suppose to have atleast 120+gigs? what is causing this and how can i fix it?

drive make & model ?
you look in the BIOS to see if it’s showing correctly in there
also check windows disk mgt (winkey+R then enter – diskmgmt.msc) and see if there’s unpartitoned space on it

its a fujitsu model number mhw2120bh, ill check disk mgt now. and reply back.

Thanks, I found it and assigned a letter to it i can access it now, another question about the HDD is, that can I hook this one up the same time with my other hdd which is also sata? problem is my dekstp has 2 sata cable but not the other 1 the smaller one i think its called the sata data cable, it only has 1 and i dont think there is another one? what are my options.

you need to get another data cable
any place that sells or repairs PC’s should have one

follow your current data to it’s connection and there should be empty slots to plug it in to near that one

That 1 is to big its a bit smaller and its blue in my pc ill try to get 1 thanks

that one is way enlarged
the connection is about ½” to ¾” or 1.5cm wide

Thanks, ED, I just took the cables from my dvd drives, since its the same one for my hdd too, not using my DVD drive anyways.

How exactly did you connected it your PC? How are you powering it up?

In his post above, he obliquely says he has used a SATA power connector.
There’s no issues anyway.
