Is there a way to convert VOB to AVI without losing quality, with a 0% compression rate.
Do any converters give you this option, to convert the whole file without compressing it?

If you rename the .vob to .mpg you can play the vob file in any player that accepts avi files. This has zero compression and takes no more than 2 seconds.
If you want to join the mpg’s to make a big movie, use ‘AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner’ from appz section here at W-BB, it is again very fast because it does’nt re-encode and therefore does not affect quality.

So I don’t have to actually convert the vob file, I can just join vob files to make one big file. Then rename it to .mpeg?

Vob = mpeg2 = mpg.
Renaming does not affect quality, size or antything else.
Right click the .vob file and select rename.
Change the suffix (last 3 letters) to mpg.
If you cant see the suffix/extension.
Open windows explorer and do this:
Select Tools, folder options, view
Untick the box ‘Hide Extensions for known file types’

When I join them together, creating one big file. Does it also join the other files like .bup and .ifo to the main file?

Depends what you use to join them and you use it.
If you want an avi type movie to play in WMP etc., you just join the vobs. Rename them to mpg first cos some appzs wont join vobs. You get the same end result movie anyway.
Recap – Rename vobs, just call them p1.mpg, p2.mpg etc. Then use something like ‘AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner’, its here at w-bb, name the output file something which refects the film, or rename from XXX_all.mpg, after completion.
The .ifo and .bup files relate to dvd chapters and stuff, so they are irrelevant to an mpg movie.

So after I copy/clone a movie, I can delete all files that are not VOB, because they are irrelevant?
Move Joiner [moviejoiner.net] lets you join vob files.
But I might just rename them, and use the other joiner.

The opening post asked about VOB to AVI and is [hopefully] aware that MPEG/MPG are not AVI? Also, expect to encounter playback problems on files exceeding 2 GB on many Standalone DVD players. Finally, you can use AutoGK to transcode the VOBs to AVI and you can set the quality percentage to 100 as shown in the image below. Now, I don’t know why in the world you would want to do such a thing because you would be giving up the advantages of AVI in the first place!

Yep, delete when you’re happy that you sequenced them correctly. Thats all you need to worry about, which os why in last answer I said to name them part 1-5(or whateveer).
The joiner I referred to is very fast and does’nt re-encode, some do, which is pointless.
Rename them first, then after joining you’ll have a large .mpg file in same quality as your dvd.

I changed the extensions to MPG. Waiting to see if the program you’re talking about is from BoilSoft. Because that’s the one I have. I definitely want a joiner that doesn’t re-encode. Like you said, that’s pretty pointless.

I used the Joiner from BoilSoft and got this message.
audio bitrates part1 (256 bps) and part2 (96 bps) is different. Do you want to join?
I’m guessing that’s not normal, especially from a dvd copy that claims to be 100% quality.
