Hmmm, I like it, go for it!
The monitor only has 700-1 contrast ratio. . . . Trouble is, most computer monitors also have similar poor contrast. . . This means, that watching any movies with night-time scenes will be difficult to see the action
Second item is response time. . . . The best that I have seen is 2ms, which is now showing-up in many PC monitors. . . The monitor you mentioned is 5ms response time, so its a little out-dated, but not bad, unless you are an avid gamer
For the record – just a some 18 months ago – LCD TV’s were mostly 1000-1 contrast ratio for all bargain LCD TV’s, and up to 3000-1 contrast ratio for the high-quality (and high-priced, $9000) LCD TV’s. . . . Even worse, they only emitted just 60-70% of the light that the eye I can see. . . . .In those days, plasma TV’s were always far, far better in viewing quality with contrast ratios of 10,000-1 and more of the light that the eye can see. . .In comparison, LCD TV’s were really bad. . . . Then Samsung hit the market Spring 2007 with LCD TV’s that had 15,000-1 contrast ratio and background lighting that produced some 90% of what the eye can see. . . Sony now has a 18,000-1 contrast ration LCD TV to compete. . . . All those bargain LCD TV’s you see in the stores for $400-$1000 are probably not worth buying right-now. . . . Hopefully, soon, some of the “new stuff” in LCD TV’s will start showing-up in PC LCD monitors
its not to bad its great for the price but i would aim a lil higher
+1 if you spend little more money you will get a screen which is much better
Any widescreen lower than 30″ is not worth it. It’s way too low (from what I’ve seen).

LOL he’s buying a Monitor, not a TV. A 19″ widescreen is absolutely fine, MUCH better than the standard 15″ 1024×768 resolution. As for the question, it looks good but you should really get a monitor with a contrast ratio of 800:1 or higher, it will look much sharper and clearer.
BTW – – Just a few weeks ago, there was advertised a Hanns-G 28-inch monitor for under $400 – believe it was for $379. . . And, it had a 3ms response time. . . . That is unbelievable, as such big LCD monitors were always around $1600 and up. . . . This means, that come July 2008, all the other LCD monitor manufacturers will be scrambling to compete and have their own cheap 28-inch LCD’s available. . . . My feeling is that it would be wise to wait until July 2008 before buying a LCD monitor
I wouldn’t go with acer, and like mentioned, it’s 700:1. But for the price, it’s good.
I just want a monitor for games, that’s all. is this one for games?
i think you should wait an save up a bit more and get something better mate
as some has said about it only has a 770:1 ratio…..
Nice review of that 28-inch Hanns-G monitor over at

Final page states
In conclusion, if you keep your expectations in line, you will be very happy with the HG281DPB. Hanns-G positioned this monitor to be a low cost entry level 27.5" LCD monitor and in doing so, they have given us a new option of having a very large LCD screen to play our games on without spending a fortune on features we may not need or even care about. Is it the best LCD monitor available? Absolutely not. It is a very nice LCD monitor to play games on? Yes. Keep in mind that my ratings below are based solely on how this monitor rates as a gamer's monitor.
