[Solved]Connecting laptop to a TV via hdmi cable

im trying to connect my laptop to a tv, the laptop has hdmi output
but when i connect, it says signal not identified
its a NEC S3500 laptop, and sony bravia tv
can somebody help with this?

have to tried..
Right-click desktop > Properties > Settings … and changed the second screen?

The port on your computer is probably HDMI in, not out.

Could be what prozac said but then again you might need to change from screen 1 to 2

I use a dvi to hdmi adapter to connect my pc and laptop to my tv, works great!

solved now, thanks
It was a resolution problem, laptop should be in the same resolution as tv if we use a hdmi cable
but it works with a VGA cable
my laptop can go only up to 1280

weird cuz hdmi supports (tv’s with hdmi ) 1280×720 and 1920×1080

you are right, it was a cable problem… its fine now… my bad
