SOLVED Fallout 3 Savegamefiles gone or not?

I was playing Fallout 3. buggy as hell, so patched the thing.
now, when i start the game, it asks for a new game. i can’t click on load or continue.
so i check the document/mygames/fallout3 folder and it’s filled with my savegamefiles.
how can i make it clear to the game/my computer where to look for the files?
help is appreciated.

i think its to do with windows live, it stopped indicating i am “logged in as…” when i start up the game/.
SOLVED after trying anything i could think of, i’ve just copy/pasted every icon from the installation disk (not the maps like “data” etc, but the small (<2MB) icons) and now it works like a charm. i do hope the bugs stopped though…
