CPU Help

September 5th, 2013

I am looking for a new PC so would like to start with the CPU first, my budget is £126 either AMD or Intel,
I am using the new built PC to game and media, and must have good performances
Also the CPU will be overclocked
This is current PC specs,
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 545
Motherboard – Foxconn A7VMX-K
RAM – ASint Technology PC2-6400
GPU – ATI Radeon HD 5500 Series
Once I’ve built the new PC, this current PC will be used for surfing the net and media
The CPU will be bought on eBay

Always start with the mother board and build up.
What CPU are you wanting to buy?
AS011 replied: my budget is £126 either
On that budget, you will get a much better PC if you look for a used computer.

If you must go with a new rig, you might be able to use some parts from your OLD PC to get the price down, like HDD, optical, and possibly even case and (doubtful) PSU.

if you posted your actual budget rather then a CPU budget, we could help more for a better PC.

At the moment, I have £126 to spend on a CPU either AMD or Intel, but I have been suggested to get Intel i5 2500K

You really should save up for it if you can.
The i5 is better than virtually all AMD processors =D
Also, wait until you have more money together to buy any parts.
This stuff only gets cheaper with time (with the current exception of HDD’s, lol).
Answer #7
not the money to spend on a CPU but on the whole system.
the I3 beats a Phenom II so that should be the minimum your looking for.

Intel i5 2500K overclocked will perform better than all AMD processors?
