More ram for mac?

August 25th, 2013

I wanted to get more ram for my mac. Wondering which one I need and what is the max amount of ram I can have. Right now I have macbook pro mid 2010. with 4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3 memory. I wanted to get more ram since I’m running a lot of programs and mac is constantly struggling. If someone can link me to a good ram product and tell me which one is good for me since im a n00b i’d appreciate it! thanks

I think the max in all 3 models is 8GB, check here for your specific model

It should take 2 sticks of 4gb PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz (204 pin SODIMM)

So Do I have to buy them both? or since I already have one I just gotta get a second one?

According to this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1270
Any of these is compatible: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007609%20600006178%20600000445&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR3%201066%20%28PC3%208500%29
You can use up to 8gb and two sticks in any configuration you want but having two sticks is recommended.

Supposed to be matching pairs, just get another of what you already have
