HDD Recovery?

So, i got this Extrenal HDD from a friend of mine, he told me he wasn’t able to access any of his data, so i took it on my PC, it connected all fine, but when i tried to open the HDD it showed this error: “The Drive F is not formatted, do you want to format it now”
Oh, and also the File system on the HDD is Showing as RAW, and its size is showing 0byes..
What do you guys suggest i should do?

Do a long scan with file scavenger (data recovery app) and pick no when asked if to search for deleted files (as it’s a file system
corruption),It’d likely find everything,Anyways,You’ll need to recover it to another HDD that has enough free space,When all done,Just
format it,Also better get it checked with hard disk sentinel to be on the safe side.
