PSP OFW 5.55 to CFW? Please help
August 6th, 2016
I have recently bought a PSP Slim & Lite with Official Firmware 5.55.
Now, I want to play downloaded PSP-games, but therefore I need Custom Firmware, but I can’t find how to install that on my 5.55…
The only site, I’ve found, is this one:
http://pspcustomfirmware.com/features/psp-custom-firmware-5-55-ofw-5-55-mod.htm
I started to follow that one, but I get stuck pretty quickly…
Can someone help me?
Thank you!

Koen.
When I bought the PSP, it had firmware 4.03 or something.
I wanted to play Motorstorm, and then I had to update, so I did…
Is there a way to put maybe my firmware back to where it was when I bought the PSP?
Then I would be able to hack it…
There is no 5.55 CFW right now.. Newest is 5.50 gen-b.
So to play 5.55 games you need to patch them with a decrypter.
I really don’t know how to go about downgrading your PSP and going with CFW.
www.pspiso.com
try this site it has some helpful topics aswell as downloads for your PSP.
Good luck and sorry I can’t help more.
Thank you for saying what you know
am I right when I say that, when a 5.55 CFW comes out, I’ll be able to install that one?
I don’t think its possible to downgrade from a 5.55 OFW to a lower one…..

nope there is not, you messed up by updating it, if your psp was still 4.03 it would be been quick and easy, but to be honest the hackers who do this stuff are really slow and you will probably have to wait a few months.
when I did mine I used a pandora battery, as far a I know you can use a pandora battery to install any cfw
please correct me if I’m wrong
Buy a pandora battery to downgrade and install custom firmware to it.
Pandora battery will always work as long as you have either a PSP-1000, or a PSP-2000. PSP-3000 are still unhackable.

yes you can, but not on all psp 2000, those with a TA-088v3, the flash is encrypted and if you mess with it, it will fry your motherboard, and pandora does not work on psp 3000, although a pandora battery was made for it, sony quickly sued and stopped production of it before it even shipped out one.
check this page if u want to check all pandora compatible motherboards….

PSP-3000 model are hackable, but you need to find a Light blue service mode battery for the PSP-3000 model if it is on CFW 5.55. Normal Pandora Batteries are useless on a PSP-3000 model.

This is not true – Datel managed to get a shipment out before they ceased manufacturing of the batteries. I have received one, i paid about $50USD for a battery, and it works all OK. Using a Pandora battery wont fry the motherboard (it simply just boots regularly) nor does it have encryption on the FLASH ROM. It is locked, which you have to unlock it write to it, which the Light Blue battery does.

No matter wha any website says, only the light-blue service mode battery is compatible with the PSP-3000 series. the earlier pandora batteries will only “unlock” the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 series PSP’s. The Light Blue battery will unlock any PSP.

http://pspslimhacks.com/datel-taken-to-court-by-sony-over-lite-blue-tool/
False not all psp 2000 will take a pandora,
IF YOU HAVE A PSP TA-088V3 MOTHERBOARD IT WONT TAKE A PANDORA!.
if you want a real guide on hacking on your dont take my word for it.
here is another post on z bb with the correct info.

and if you mess with the flash on a TA-088v3 motherboard there is no way to restore it, since pandora is not supported, if you do the chickhen R2 hack on a PSP2000 with a TA-088v3 motherboard and you mess with the ipl flash it will stay permanently dead.

I managed to find one as soon as they came out because I know people who hack game consoles for a living and they ordered (i think) 50 of them. If you need one PM me.

I do not get the point of this post. The highest ofw is i think 6.3 but the highest cfw is 5.50. to play your 5.55+ games on 5.50 you need an app like UMDumper on your CFW’ed psp to create an ISO of the game then it mods the encryption in the iso, allowing you to play the game. the only reason they have that in the games is to get people to upgrade to the latest ofw and to stop people loading cfw’s onto their psp consoles.
