PSP CFW help!

September 23rd, 2013

So I used to know the ins-&-outs of the PSP world a few years ago (even had a pinned thread here on WBB on how to do it), but I have lost touch since work and just generally being an adult caught up. I moved a few months ago, and found my PSP lost in some random spot… Time to play again!
Ok, so I have an original fat PSP that’s running CFW 5.00 M33-6. I did some research and saw that the current OFW is 6.60, and that there are a few CFW I can use. I couldn’t figure out how I could possibly update from the ancient CFW I have now, I would rather not brick it after getting myself excited looking ta the list of recent games that came out, lol.
Where do I start in this updating process? Thanks to whoever can help me out!

Gen of your psp?

You can go from 5.00m33 to 6.60ME, I went from 5.50GEN with no issues.
Think the current version is 6.60ME 1.6.

Original FAT PSP (1000 I believe). What is the difference between PRO and ME? Do upgrade to OFW then the CFW, or just straight to CFW?

6.60ME is easy enough, download OFW and copy over the modified eBoot and install, might be a little more to it but it’s all laid out in the instructions and very easy to do.
Don’t quote me on this but I think PRO is for PSP’s that can’t be fully modified so if you turn off the PSP you’ll have to re-enable the PRO CFW, ME boots with the PSP like regular FW.
