update an iphone with red snow

i bought an iphone witch someone jailbroke it with red snow. How do i update it?
Also my iphone is silent when i make phonecalls but not with skype or anything else. How could i fix this? Unjailbreak it? or will updating it fix it?

Well Red Snow isn’t the best.
blackra1n is really good. Restore it to factory using iTunes then use blackra1n to install it.

You need to update to the latest firmware in order to jailbreak using blackra1n.

its a black iphon with 7.8 gb(i thinks it supposed to be 8 gb) i think its 2g not 3g

Seems to me like you’ve got an 8GB iPhone 3G.
If you connect your iPhone to iTunes it should let you know that there is an update available. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade to 3.1.2, then download blackra1n. It’s literally that simple.

YOu are using 3G 8GB with 2.2 FW…
Go and DL the 3.1.2 FW, and do SHIFT+RESTORE on iTunes then add FW and restore will complete in 10 minutes, after that run blackra1n on your PC and thats all (after that you will see blackra1n icon on springboard on iPhone tap that, select ROCK and sn0w and let it DL and install automatically)

OK i got it working but now none of the apps work(apart from apples own) they start up then dissapear. i have tried deleleting them and restoring or download them, closing my account and re-opening it but nothing works
They start for less than a second and then dissapear. Its only the non apple apps that are effected

Did you restore your phone from backup? Also Blackra1n breaks youtube.
The problem you are having the apps disappearing are from restoring the phone from backup. I had the same problem
