CPU Help!

hey guys.
so i currently have an Amd Sempron 2800+ 1.6ghz, and i want to get a new one from ebay. my motherboard supports socket 754 so i saw this amd athlon 3200+ socket 754 and i was wondering if it will work with my board.

I know with my board (Gigabyte socket 775) I can go to the Gigabyte web site and look up my board. They have a ‘CPU support’ link that tells me what it will support, and which BIOS version is needed.
Maybe try looking up your board’s web site, they may have a similar feature.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Sempron 3100+ so i cant go higher than 3100+?
grrrr its only 1.8ghz
can i get like athlon 3200+?

Fastest clocked and overclockable socket 754 would be an amd 3700 but not sure if it would be ok with your mobo. My old clawhammer could be pushed to 2.6ghz with an ac freezer 64 pro. Stock hsf could only hit 2.5ghz.

I believe AMD Athlon and Sempron are both socket 939. I have Athlon 3200+ and it is 939.

If this is your mobo, then according to the review, the 3200+ should be fine..
