LCD TV

December 4th, 2022

Thinking of getting a LCD on boxing day, but not sure what features are important is contrast ratio more important than refresh time, can you notice a difference of 5 or 8ms?
Was looking at 3D tvs but there’s not much content and the technology seems to still be evolving so I think that’s not a great option.

Not sure about all the other stuff, but why do you want an LCD? I know the LED Backlit TV’s look the best, and I recommend a Samsung.
Answer #2
LED is the back-lighting used for the screen in preference to fluoro..
But the TVs still have an LCD screen..
Virtually all new TVs use LEDs now…Hence the reversion to the general terms, LCD or Plasma.
And yes, back-lighting LED would be best., and Samsung is the most popular.
Although 3D works, I do find it a bit of a gimmick that would be boring after a while!
If you want to watch downloaded movie etc, then check out the facilities it has for what formats you can play from a flash drive or portable hard drive via USB.
Some TVs can connect to your network and have “Live TV”.
Above all, have a good look at the picture from various angles, to see if you are happy with it.
Happy viewing !!

You might also want to take a look at support for popular codecs like x264 for video playback
