Email (Outlook) recovery – Windows 7 – Please help
August 6th, 2016
I have come across an unusual issue here … a cheap water cooling system leaked and fried the m/b. Now I have purchased a new m/b and connected everything up, switched on the pc and it won’t start up.
I have already gone through the Windows Repair Utility and was unsuccessful … it couldn’t automatically repair the startup issue.
Every other component has been tested and it is working 100%
Old Setup:
ASUS – P5QL – EM motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66 CPU
4 GB RAM
1 TB SATA HDD – Windows 7 Ultimate installed (not sure if its 32 or 64 bit)
New Setup:
ASUS – P5KPL – AM SE motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66 CPU
4 GB RAM
1 TB SATA HDD – Windows 7 Ultimate installed (not sure if its 32 or 64 bit)
Now it goes past the POST and then it shows the option of choosing between WINDOWS REPAIR UTILITY or NORMAL STARTUP, I then select the NORMAL STARTUP option and it then shows that Windows is starting up, 2 seconds in it freezes for a second and then it quickly shows the blues screen and immediately it reboots and once again it gives me the option of choosing between the WINDOWS REPAIR UTILITY or NORMAL STARTUP.
Please help.
Will the Windows cd help or do I have to phisically do something or download something ????
Thank you.
Your motherboard will have different drivers than your previous one. You need to re-install windows 7 and do a clean install and all will be good.
Are you serious?????? A clean install …….. damn ….. I was hoping for some tool that could fix all this …………. are you absolutely sure there is no other way ????
Clean install… different drivers, different chipset etc….
Damn …… Oh well, thanks for the input and advice guys.
i think you could boot it into safe mode and grab what you need. music pics etc
Can you guys also point me in the right direction of the emails ….. I need to back up all the email from the existing MS Outlook. I managed to get the HDD hooked up to my PC and am now transferring files but I have to get all the emails backed up too.
Thanks
EDIT:
Oops … sorry for the double post guys ……
Use a Live CD to get the date you need off the drive. I recommend this

I have already accessed the hard drive and have completed most of the copying, however, I am having difficulty accessing the Local Settings folder on the affected hard drive … it keeps telling me that ACCESS IS DENIED, but I have changed the SECURITY settings for every user on the whole USER folder and every sub folder in it, and I still have issues accessing it.
The other thing is that I don’t see the LOCAL SETTINGS folder in the USER folder, only a shortcut … ???
Will the live CD override all permissions and security ????
I need to get all the emails, even the ones that have not been archived … this is what I have copied so far … please tell me if this is enough:
I have copied everything in > USER\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
as well as > USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook
Is there any info in the LOCAL SETTINGS folder that should be copied over in order for the emails to work and appear successfully on the new installation ??
Thank you all for your help and input.
P.S. If I need to get something from LOCAL SETTINGS, please specify what and also tell me if the live cd will help or not ……. as I mentioned, I’m having issues with permissions.
