Extract Files Inside A ThinApp Installer

August 8th, 2016

I downloaded a program here labeled as a “silent install” but is actually created using ThinApp. When I install it, it tries to install all this other crap: babylon toolbar, strong vault, and others. I just want the program files inside the InstallShield Installation exe. Anyone know how to extract them?
Answer #1
You could give UniExtract a shot.

It supports quite a variety of file formats.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Answer #3
Didn’t work.
InstallShield (By One Exe-file) Unpacker v0.99 IsXunpack.exe 3DMark03.exe (for example) and use -i option for info of suppored modif. of IS-EXE
Found Suggested Overlay Start Position at: 11800h
Not Valid All-in-One Modification of IS File...
Trying to Check For CAB-file Inside...
Possible CAB StartPos at: -505290524
CAB-file NOT found in That EXE!
Press Enter to Exit! Have a Nice Day.

Answer #4
install it in vmware and then just copy them from where they were installed
Answer #5
You could try running it in Sandboxie or another sandbox software

I tried that but It installs useless files, none of the program files. In a ThinApp program everything is located inside a .dat file. That’s what I’m looking to extract.

I loaded it in Hopper Disassembler and IDA but it does not give a clue to where the .dat file is located.

I’m running it in VMWare Workstation. I looked all over the internet and it looks like t’s impossible to extract anything from a thinware app. Useless. I’m giving up on this and moving on.
