iPhone 5 on T-Mobile or o2 in London.

August 4th, 2016

Hey all!
Basically, my two year contract with my BB ended the other week and i’m looking into getting the iphone 5. I do NOT like the Samsung, it is just far too big for my liking despite it being such a good phone!
I have two options available, and need your help to pick the best one:
T-Mobile is offering me:
iPhone-5 – Have to pay 99 handset cost
26 per month
Unlimited Data
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Voice
O2 is offering me:
iPhone 5 – Have to pay 50 handset cost
29 per month
2GB data
unlimited texts
unlimited data
Any ideas guys? Just looking for any experience in London on these 3G phones for youtube video speed, internet speed etc etc
thanks guys

Reception is better across London on T-Mobile as they share the Orange network as well (EE = Everything Everywhere)
Why not go for 4G if you are in London ? I have a mifi with EE and get speeds 20-40 Meg, they are doubling the speed soon (130 Meg in the labs but effectively 80 Meg) – they might be a little on the expensive side at the moment, but they have a 6 month head start on every other 4G provider, O2 hasn’t even launched yet. (EE is T-Mobile) (You need to get the LTE phone or mifi modem)

Hey The issue is cost, i’m going to be looking at 36.00 ++ by going on 4G so it really isn’t a viable option despite the amazing internet speeds. Would standard 3G on t-mobile in London be fairly quick for internet browsing/music streaming etc?
Sorry for all the questions!
Cheers

How long are the contracts?

How long are the contracts?
Both 24 months!

Well in that case the T-Mobile contract will be the cheapest over the 24 months and the O2 contract is about 23 more expensive overall, so not that much difference. I live in London and i do think T-Mobile has the better signal and download speeds all round (supposedly the best in London before the merger with Orange), however O2 isn’t that far off.
Also the T-Mobile contact is giving you Unlimited data, it all comes down to how much do you really use 3G on the go and how much data do you think you would use.
Here is a cool website to help you:

o2 is now doing a really similar deal to tmobile now ://
O2
http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/yourdeal/?_cid=74450492
Tmobile

1Gb of data seems sufficient I guess then, that was an interesting read

I see, well in general T-Mobile has better signal in London. So maybe that will be your best bet. Might even be worth going into Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U and asking what they think. They might be able to help.

Don’t forget that if you are ordering it online use sites like www.topcashback.co.uk and you might be able to save money, I notice things usually track but they have being occasions when they didn’t
I don’t think I am allowed on this site to give a personal referral link, so gave you the normal address.
I personally just bought the Iphone 5 sim-free and am using it on Ovivo, but then again I don’t need everything to be unlimited.
