Iphone 4 is charging but not being read by itunes

I just reformatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and i tried to plug my iphone in to get put stuff on it and it will charge but wont read as it is plugged in.
The iphone doesnt read on my other computer aswell, is there a way i can get all my photos off or what, i was going to reset my phone but i dont want to lose all my photos.

Try doing a hard reset on your phone.
Whilst the phone is ON, hold down the power button and the home button for about 10 seconds or so… The apple logo will appear, now let go of the buttons, and your phone will “hard reset”… This is what I have to do sometimes with my iPhone 5, in order to get it working on my car stereo.

If you reformatted your laptop, Windows should install the iPhone driver itself (unless you installed a lite version). Try different USB ports or if you havent yet installed much on your laptop reformat it with a ‘complete’ version of Windows.
If all that doesnt work try a new USB cable.
