{SOLVED}Computer problems after power outage

August 6th, 2016

Two nights ago the power went out while my computer was on and since then I have been having problems with my computer. It seems to have corrupted the account I use, I say this because I am using my other admin account on the computer and I am posting on Opera which freezes the computer on my main account. Is there any way I can find out what is wrong? This account will freeze if I try to copy files from the main account. If I could just copy the files and delete that account I would but at this time it doesn’t seem possible. I have run chkdsk and memtest, no errors were found. I am using Vista Home Premium 64bit.

Reinstall Windows

I have run chkdsk and memtest, no errors were found..
The question is whether you ran it with the right parameters
and my guess is that you didn’t. Goto start>run (or press winkey+r)>cmd
type chkdsk c: /r /f Hit enter and you’ll be asked if you wanna
schedule a scan on the next reboot,Press Y and hit enter,Then
restart and let it do it’s thing.
Answer #3
I ran chkdsk c: /f earlier, I will try it with those parameters and see if it does anything. I am starting to think it corrupted Appdata folder because I was able to copy everything else but those things.
Answer #4
Insert the Vista dvd in to ur dvd drive, boot up from it and try repairing your system from it Smile

It will,Trust me.
The R is for finding bad sectors and recovering readable data.
Answer #6
Thank you Roberto, after I posted I ran it again under the parameters your suggested and it found the error. It was where I thought it would be, the power outage apparently messed up one of the files that controls the RSS feed and mail in Opera. I wish I came across the parameters you gave me earlier, I was under the impression that F would fix anything it found.
