Full Hard drive back

August 7th, 2016

Was wondering if there was a software that after I am done reinstalling windows on my other computer and all the drivers and stuff, If there was a software where I can just make a image of the whole drive and if it ever crashes again I can just install that instead of reinstalling windows along with all the drivers and crap….I think Norton Ghost right?

Well, I use EASEUS TodoBackupAdvancedServer58 (works fine on a PC that isn’t a server). I have a folder on a separate drive (a different partition from the OS will also suffice) called zzz_backup (you can call it whatever you want).
Every month (usually after installing Microsoft’s update Tuesday fixes) I make a backup which currently stands at 17 gigs. The backup takes about 15/20 minutes, but that all depends how much stuff (programs) you have installed on your computer.
You create a boot CD (or usb stick) via the software and if your system ever goes down you simply boot from that into what appears to be DOS (there is a GUI) then locate the saved image in your backup folder and re-instal the OS as it was. (The re-instal in my case takes 15 minutes)
I’ve had to use it a couple of times so it does work.
There is also another software Acronis TrueImage that is quite popular also but I stopped using that in favor of EASEUS.
Just make sure you save all your data files (movies, music, and anything else) on a different partition/drive from the OS, then it will all be safe and accessible if things go pear shaped.

Good link.
My only problem with Acronis is that it’s become so bloated over the past four years.
