Both OpenDNS and Google Public DNS can speed up your Internet connection, but only OpenDNS offers robust features to make the Web safer, smarter, faster and more reliable for users — for free. What’s more, OpenDNS frequently outpaces Google Public DNS in speed tests, so while both might make your Internet connection faster, OpenDNS does it best.

I have always found OpenDNS to be the best, but I live in the USA and have heard from people in different regions that its not as fast as others.
So while I recommend OpenDNS, use what ever works best for you.
I just use openDNS
I use Google DNS.
But dint know as stated in here,

Been using OpenDNS for a few years now, no complaints.
Find out what works best for you by using DNSBench. Speed can vary during the day so check a few times to find the overall best server for you.
However most of these DNS servers will block any site that the USA government sees fit. Getting a DNS server which doesn’t block sites is worth considering.
