You can host your own website on anything that will run a web server, and can have port 80 forwarded to it.
However, you never want to host a website from a home computer, because if ever your power, internet, or computer hosting the site has any issues at all, the site will go down.
With hosting super cheap and affordable these days, there absolutely no reason what so ever to do this.
PS: Let me know if you want good quality hosting for cheap.

I’d advise against it!
Hosting a website on your own computer has a number of disadvantages, Some of em were already pointed out above, But here’s a few more:
1. By hosting it on your computer, You’d be putting it at an increased risk of hacking (If you don’t properly secure your PHP/MYSQL settings) or if unknowingly to you, One of the scripts you use has a vulnerability which will allow attackers to obtain access to your computer.
2. You’d be putting your internet connection at an increased risk of DDOS attacks (In plain terms, Such attack will effectively make your connection worthless and you wouldn’t be able to use it til it’d stop, Or til you manage to change your IP, Which may not be doable as not all ISPs provide dynamic ones)
3. Performance wise, It could be a disaster!
Hosting a website requires a fast (high) upload speed, And if you’ll have a lot of users accessing your site at the same time, Depending on your upload speed/popularity of your website, Loading times could become very slow..
4. It’d cost you extra (Electricity bill wise) as you’d have to keep your computer running 24/7 (Has to be this way for the site to be accessible at all times of the day!)
So overall, It’s just not a good idea!
