Formating, removing dual boot and combining partitions.
August 6th, 2016
I am planning to format both partitions, and remove the dual boot.
Will I just have to delete both partitions from the installation menu (when formating) and create a new clean one?
Any help?
Hi mate,
you just gave yourself the answer , yes … Both partitions will need to be deleted and a new one be created with a new MBR. I would however recommend to use a disk wiping tool (live cd) to completely wipe and reformat the Disk before you reinstall a operating system as Windows (and Iam assuming you will want 2 install windows ?) is not entirely thorough when it comes to wiping disks, old data will still be on the drive and a such be a potential source for problems.
Cheers

I’ve never wiped a drive in over 30 years and NEVER had any problems and that includes HD’s with dual, triple and quadruple partitions where I’ve made it into one.
You don’t have to wipe any data unless it’s essential for security purposes, just delete both partitions and create a new one from the unallocated space. Remember to backup any data you want to keep.
