Seen something last year on tv where they were bouncing internet access of local satellite internet. like a daisy chain in rural areas
Answer #2
It would help if you mentioned what Country you are in.
I have seen some rural villages here in the UK where they share a satellite connection.

sorry im in the uk, ive seen companys offering satellite deals but its around 30 a month with terrible download limits

Can’t you just move somewhere else? Is the decision up to you or are you moving along with your parents?
To be honest, Satellite Internet doesn’t hold a candle to Cable/DSL!
It’s significantly slower, As well as very high latency (Due to the distance the signal travels to/from) In plains terms, You should expect: Slow downloads, Delays when loading websites, Poor Audio/Video quality or delays (Skype and Youtube) and poor multi-player online gaming performance (Virtually non-playable!)
So again, If possible, It’d be in your best interest to move somewhere else, Where you can actually get Cable/DSL.
Satellite Internet simply sucks.
Edit: What about 3G/4G? (Mobile Carrier Internet) You could use it on your PC via tethering!
Or you could purchase a standalone dongle from your carrier (Basically a 3G/4G USB modem in the size of a flash drive)

no its a work move, mobile signal was pretty poor and i struggled to get internet access there on my phone so dont think a dongle would work

I see.
But is the company planning on paying your rent/bills? If the location is entirely up to you, Surely you could
find somewhere better! (In the same city, Or one close to it)

I am currently facing the same issue. Best deal is $75 for 5 MBPS. I myself am going to a mobile provider with 4G. My purpose is for work as well. When it comes down to it, I am hoping to get a fast solution with good enough results and move asap.

I’m in the U.S, But I had a terrible experience with satellite internet. I literally had it for less than 8 hours before it had a catastrophic failure, and am still in legal proceedings over the bill after 2 years. I’m not sure about England, but there are a few other options. Verizon was doing something cool with 3G “satellites” and there is also wireless internet that is blasted from local towers that you pick up from a small settop or dongle. Honestly your kinda screwed, but your best bet is to research the area as best you can.

More than likely this.
You will be extremely lucky to get a 3G signal right out in the sticks. Your best chance would be BT ADSL if your can get it – although don’t expect a fast connection. Can you not check the postcode if you have it at Samknows and sites like BroadbandChoices. I know they are crap, but have you checked Virgin (better than nothing).
Can you give us a clue of the nearest Town/City and distance to it.

I am in the U.S. and I have had good luck with Satellite internet, in fact I was on C band Internet in 2002-5 (A nightmare!) 2005-2011 at 1.5 Mbps with a 17gb down 5gb up cap for $49usd and then 2011 to now with 18-21Mbps for $79usd 15gb up/down cap but from midnight to 5am unlimited usage daily. I suffer no lag problems at all and I have no other options yet but I am hoping some day I will but I live very remote and satellite is cheaper for me then 4g.
But you may be able to get set up on 4g and set up a yagi beam antenna and if needed a linear amplifier, I actually installed a amp in my cars and it stopped my signal from falling out right away.
Satellite in the UK like in Australia is way too expensive and they have only a 4-5gb cap and it isn’t worth it yet over there.
A external directional yagi beam would be the cheapest and probably the best way for you it sounds like and at that frequency the directional yagi beam will be less then a meter long but it has a high gain ratio. not like my ham antenna at a lower frequency with a boom length of 10m! lol Just my 3 cents worth.

In the US I use: millenicom.com They have multiple plans, one being a Wi-Fi hot spot for the home (device/router) which can use Verizon(my personal option) or Sprint. I use a USB760 plugged into a cradle point router boosted for cell reception with an antenna. Little doubt there is a corollary in the UK. I got 20GB’s/mnth for 59.99 until next month when they decided to hammer us with 89.99/mnth, still the best deal. In the us excite satellite internet has about the best competition to that only because they allow unlimited download between like 12:00am to 5:00am.
that should give you a search start point for your area: cell carriers/sat unlimited during non peak hours.
edit: usb760 is of course portable
: you have a good deal. Provider? still rolling?

True, But I don’t see the correlation!
The OP never mentioned anything about living in close proximity to the company.
It’s quite possible it’s located in the other part of town (Which actually has Cable/DSL/Fiber available!)

without the antenna and cable for remote placement and selective carrier (sprint/at&t) suck here, a dongle wouldn’t work for me either. if you live rural, I would suggest you go rip van winkle waiting mode on a company finding cost/revenue incentive. I know with certainty it ain’t gonna happen here. these guys hardly read, much less have expendable cash for frivolous (non eatable) pursuits.
