PC VGA to TV VGA

August 12th, 2013

I am trying to hook up my computer to my insignia 720p tv. i have tried so many options and tweaks and cant figure it out, I have gone from 800 x 600 60 hz to 1280 x 768 60 hz and nothing, i have a nvidia geforce 7050/nforce 620i. I have created custom setting s in the nvidia control pannel and i only got one to work but then it went away in like 2 seconds. when i reboot i see the splash screen and can access the bios so its not the tv its has to be something on windows 7, so then i disabled the display driver and it actually worked the only bad side is when i try to watch movies the frame rate is low due to the lack of direct x, i think. so thats as far as i got disable nvidia and it works somewhat enable it and all hope is lost.
the dimensions that worked when the driver was disabled was 1280 x 768 at 60 hz
i tried that in nvidia control panel after i re-enabled it and no hope so is there something i can do to have my driver but the simple basic part of it like without nvidias control panel and unnecessary additions. Or is there like a generic driver i can download that enables direct x.

Answer #1
get the latest nVidia driver from
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
uninstall your current drivers, reboot and install the latest
if you already heve the latest uninstall them, reboot and reinstall them

I’m not sure, but you might need a pc to tv converter like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Videosecu-Converter-Computer-Composite-Switcher/dp/B000X3FAJU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1327895826&sr=8-3
I just bought one tonight actually.

well see the whole reason i wanted to do this was because i wanted to avoid converting and streaming to my xbox as that takes time and problems may occur i have doen this before but its just tedious work i did that for a year, then just got lazy. Then i moved and just watched movies on my computer on my 19 inch monitor because i have hard wood floors and sliding my desk is no biggie but then theres wires and if i want to do stuff i have to move it back blah blah blah so i just got lazy again lol. But now i want to do it this way but looks like it is impossible to have it the way i want for now, so later when i build my computer im just gonna get a gfx card with hdmi but you know i just wanted something right now, but after all day of working i have decided to just go back to converting as that is the best way possible as of now.
AND btw i updated the driver and nothing i even went to an earlier driver and still nada.
Answer #4
this might be a long shot, but when i used to connect my laptop to the tv with vga,
i always had to go into device manager and search for new devices. and then the tv would get recognised.
give that a try?
Answer #5
I cant do that, i totaly left a big part out… I only have one display on my computer so when i go to connect my tv im blind until i put it back in the monitor which makes this thing so much harder.
Answer #6
I presume your TV has an HDMI input…and your PC has a DVI output..So what you could do is try connecting the HDMI of the TV to the DVI output on your PC.
You just need a DVI to HDMI adapter plug and an HDMI lead..
This makes the TV like a normal DVI monitor..No VGA required..
If you can set the res to 1280 x 720 @ 60Hz, so much the better to see you with
Answer #7
no dvi
only vga
and if that were the case believe me this task would have been completed as soon as i connected everything but because i have vga that automatically make my computer gay which is why im building one in a couple of weeks
Answer #8
Is that your wish list in your signature
Answer #9
yea i only need 300 more us dollars and its mine
Answer #10
i might just wait til the 600 series comes out and just use my friends 260 until then but either way the build will be running in 2 weeks
