things don’t seem as clear/defined.. it’s a VS248 by ASUS

it’s integrated into the laptop so no video card..
there is no auto adjust button..

what resolution is it at now
what is the native resolution of the screen

You are incorrect. Do your research on monitors properly.
Like every brand some models can be bad or great.
Nearly everybody i know uses asus.
What is next you will be recommending a CRT monitor.
Besides this you should not have any issues with the monitor, the only exception would be if you went from an old CRT to LCD that would cause blurry images, then all you have to do is adjust your distro choices for text display and graphics settings.
If you already had a LCD and bought another and got this isssue then yes you unfortunately got a bad monitor, take it back and get another.
