Fan question

January 11th, 2024

Is the corsair sign suppose to point up or down when installing the fan for best possible cooling? I bought a corsair AF120 for the top 3 mounts of my case and wondering if the logo should face up or down with the blue corsair logo on it.
Answer #1
Not sure if I understand the question, the fans are square so they can have any orientation and the sticker should face the components, not the exterior, is that what you mean?
Answer #2
Fans on top usually are mounted to exhaust air out of case,.

Look on the fan sideways. Airflow direction is always engraved into the fan.
Answer #3
it doesnt make any difference in terms of performance putting up or down , it is about if you use it as an intake fan or exhaust fan , and as said it is always used for exhaust unless you plan to do some weird cooling solution. also look at the case manual or its page on manufacturer’s site , there should be a diagram for to show you what is best combination of intake or exhaust fans for cooling
Answer #4
I would say to have the fans at the top dispel/exhaust air
This is simply because heat rises, so your fans will help the heat leave your case, instead of fighting against it Simply put, the fans on the back and top should exhaust air
The fans in the front and side(s) should bring in air

No what I mean is the one where the wire and motor is facing down and with the logo its facing up so is that the correct way to install fan? I am getting 46 and below for the cpu and for the mobo below 30 also the GPU temp is 33 and below also.
Answer #6
The side with the wire/logo should be the direction on where air would be drawn out
Ergo, if you wanted the fan to exhaust heat from the top of the case, the wire should be the closest to/touching the case
Of course, a surefire way to be certain would be to hook up the fan to a fan controller, turn the PC on, and see which side dispels air
The CPU seems to be a bit too hot when idle
The GPU and motherboard idle temperature is normal

I found this out with my new build last month and it was a relief yet so simple. Specifically your AF120 and many other brands of fans have:
fans will have directional arrows on the side of the frame - they show which way the fan rotates and which way the air blows
here is a pic

Answer #8
Installing a fan DEPEND on YOU. It does not matter which way the logo face. If you want the air to get blown in then face it in that direction. If you like air to blow out of the case then point the other way. There is really no right or wrong way the fan face unless you add all fan to one direction. Again logo facing which direction does not matter.
For example I had rad fans on top and in front pulling air from the outside in. On the bottom fans.. The one closest to the front blow air in and the one near the end pull air out. The rear fan blow air out.
Logo dont matter just what matter is which way you want the fan to blow air in or out.

Thanks tooth for the answer so I point the arrow which way I want the air to go right? If that is true I should face the arrow downward so I can have it blow inside my case and let the case wholes take out dust/heat because on my case the top is not opened. It is a full enclosed top with a few vents. My main question is can I have 2 fans blowing in my case and 1 fan blowing out? I can have up to 3 120mm fans on my top or a radiator and a fan also my case is an NZXT H440.
Answer #10
3 front fans blowing in. Top and rear fans blowing out.
Answer #11
As long as there is at least 1 fan blowing out. Your good to go. No matter what you do. There will be dust in your case.
Answer #12
^this.
also, I have 6 system fans not including my CPU cooler and I run around 24c. not overclocked, zelman z11 plus case. I would’ve had 7 fans but my PSU is bottom mounted thus couldn’t have a fan at the bottom of the case. anyway, you’re ALWAYS going to get dust, you can’t stop that. you can however give your PC a clean with compressed air, this is safe and should be done every few months.
