Is it time to upgrade my 5s?

August 4th, 2016

The 5s camera sucks. I tried to record a video of me driving around to get like a little dash cam for when driving and when I do record the quality it can’t catch the license plate. I can remember the plates in my mind but I want to get it on footage encase I get in an accident because I have some people that like to brake check me for reasons I don’t understand.

The iPhone 5s is still a pretty decent iPhone with a great camera, but the iPhone 6 (or was it 6Plus) has a slightly better camera and a faster auto-focus.
I personally wouldn’t upgrade for just the camera. Im currently using an iPhone 5 and im perfectly satisfied with it

The quality sucks. It doesn’t pick up my lights and I can see it perfectly in the cars reflection. What phone is good that is up to date?
Answer #3
Any mobile will struggle.
Image stabilisation is required to get good results and a camera on a mobile is pretty pushing it.
If you want a decent quality, iphones are not an answer.
Answer #4
The quality sucks because you are trying to use a phone as a dashcam. Get a dashcam if that is what you want to record. They are getting pretty cheap these days.
Answer #5
There are dash cams that cost nearly 1/5 of the phone. Try searching dash cams on amazon to get an idea. You can get a professional hd video for less than 300$
Answer #6
I don’t want a dash cam though. I want to take it with me and not setup/ erase by computer and all that crap. Is Blu Life Pure XL better than an Iphone 5s? http://www.amazon.com/Life-Pure-Full-16MP-2-2GHz/dp/B00M78J784/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1423653380&sr=8-2&keywords=blu+pure+xl It has a snapdragon 800 and 3GB of ram for an unlocked phone for 276.19!!!!! CHEAP and good specs wtf? Why is this not more popular. Is that life pure XL better than my iphone 5s for video taking/ an upgrade that can run lollipop? If I do get that XL would I be able to get regular android and not blu’s custom android?

^looks like a cheap version of the OnePlus One.
anyway, you’re not going to get a great dash cam with a [i]mobile], fact. end of.
get a proper dash cam or just get by with what you have.
either that, get something like the xperia Z3 or wait to see the OnePlus two specs.
see ya.

Isn’t the blulifepure better for the price? It has a snapdragon 800! 2GB ram.
The one I showed has 16GB and only $274 compare to $299 for 16GB? Hmm and it seems there is no slot for memory so you can’t expand which it would feel like my iphone which I can’t download any crap because of ios alone getting bigger and I only have no heavy apps only around 40MB. I need expandable memory so that is the reason I want to ditch iphone.

no.
the OnePlus One has better specs and is cheaper. it has 16gb and 64gb. you pick which one you want.
as for using a mobile as a dashcam, you really are pushing your phone to it’s limits.
get a proper dashcam, you’ll not need the 5S then so you can give it me!
jokes aside, the Z3 might be right up your street.

Hmm isnt the galaxy note 4 better quality camera for taking videos? I heard it can record at 4k so it must be better in details if it can record 4k right? If it can record at 4k than it must be better quality at 1080P. Is this the right phone? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4NZ2CZ0731&cm_re=note_4-_-9SIA4NZ2CZ0731-_-Product I know there are a lot of versions of it 3 to be exact and just wanted to make sure it is the LTE one.
Answer #12
just because it can record 4k doesn’t mean it’s great; again, it’s a phone.
the OnePlus One 64gb can record 4k too as well as the Z3.
mate, seriously; stop asking for advice and doing the opposite of what members say.

But it has OIS so isn’t OIS good for video also?
