Windows 7 Portable

July 31st, 2016

Looking for a way to take a Windows 7 or 8 iso and make it somewhat portable to run off a flash drive. Only need it to be able to browse folders on a pc/hd that won’t boot/crashed/etc. and pull the data off. Have tried WinToUSB which didn’t work at all.

You need a proper Win 7 live version..
Hiren’s Boot DVD can be put on a USB stick and contains a mini (live) Windows 7, live XP, and lots of utilities..

A lot of people have success using Rufus to put CD/DVD ISOs on to a stick to make bootable..
Answer #2
Just get a live recovery disk like paragon rescue kit or runtime software live cd or just a plain live linux distro. If you insist on building one yourself Google for “win to go windows 7/8” and follow one of the tutorials.

Check-out Active Boot Disk Creator.
