Antivirus help wanted

August 6th, 2016

I am currently having a problem with Kaspersky (Application rules) and I’m wanting to try Eset once again. My problem with Eset was if it think it found a virus it auto-deleted without asking me. Is there a setting within Eset that will allow ME to decide whether it should be deleted or kept?
Any help would be great and thanks in advance

You can make it ignore certain files, so cracks that give false positives for example, and you are aware it isnt a proper virus you make eset ignore the file..
Answer #2
I’ve had issues with both of them, swapped to avast years ago. If that thing detects it, it quarantines it and its relatively easy to get it back.
Answer #3
You can recover files going to the tools tab and select quarantine or you can use interactive mode and it will ask to remove(eset).

Thanks guys. What do you think of NO av at all but using malwarbytes along with anti-exploit. Some have said this works even better OR just as good. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that option.
Thanks again

you have no reason to go another software than kaspersky if you are not having specific problems, it is the best. and combination malwarebytes + its anti exploit can not do half of what full suite does. i assume you meant malwarebytes premium cuz its free version do not have real time protection component but only on demand scanner. anti exploit only blocks browser based attacks. it even doesnt have a firewall. besides malwarebytes can not do deep analysis on files , especially on packed exes which means it can not catch most type of things before they launch. you can try it by yourself , for example download ccleaner installer from its official site then scan it both with eset and malwarebytes , eset will detect toolbar offer in the installer package , malwarebytes wont.
what is your problem with kaspersky , it can be easier for you if you tell it and we find solution for it.

Thanks a lot I use google hangouts (Chrome extension) which is important for my daily use of keeping contact with various people. I had the problem of it saying “trying to reconnect” ALL the time when using Kaspersky internet security 2016. I’ve tried firewall settings etc to no avail. I even went to the forums and there were many other people with the same problem. So I tried Eset AV and all worked fine but the scanner came up with a file it deemed a virus but I could not add an exception to it to ignore because it was greyed out and unable to recover it and take it out of quarantine. I had no problem with the KAS AV itself with no firewall so maybe I should just go back to the AV itself and screw the firewall.

you really have found the worst thing to have problem with a browser extension. i believe it can only be fixed through software update since you have no way of adding it to exceptions or trusted applications alone. you should add browser .exe to overcome this which means totally removing your web protection while surfing on net. i dont use google hangouts but as far as i know , it is a very popular application so if many face the problem like you said , it will be fixed sooner or later. you can try using KIS 2015 if you currently use KIS 2016 , to see if the problem persists. using just av would also be enough , you can do it just disabling the firewall on protection settings and enabling the windows firewall again so it saves you from doing extra work. if your ip is static , it would be better to have a better firewall than windows’. if your ip is dynamic , windows’ firewall would be enough for the most of the time.
Answer #8
, I agree on that for sure on the browser extension and will give 2015 or16 and just the AV a shot as there was no problem with extensions. Thanks again
Answer #9
i told you to use internet security with firewall disabled if it fixes your problem cuz firewall is not the only difference between standard AV version of kaspersky and IS. so you could benefit from other extras on internet security.
