Is it possible to use two USB keyboards?

August 6th, 2016

Hey there guys. I was curious about something. I want to get into making midi-based music (full of synth-y stuff and virtual orchestra things) and I don’t have the money to buy one of those midi keyboards. I have two qwerty keyboards (A wireless one for my desktop and a USB one that I sometimes use in my Playstation 2) and I was wondering if I could plug in both of them and map one of them out as an instrument. I think it would be pretty cool, but I doubt it’s possible. Anyone out there have any thoughts?

it works to a point. Both keyboards will work independently, but say you use your music prog to do the mapping by pressing p (for example), pressing p on either keyboard will tiger the key or macro or whatever that letter is assigned to. (On the other hand all you can do is try, in devices each keyboard would be listed individually, so its possible, but I think very unlikely..)
Also some mapping progs let you use multiple buttons for example ctrl + a letter, Guess if it has that functionality you could sticky tape ctrl or alt or what ever and have the second keyboard work like you want by mapping all the buttons + cntrl if you get my drift??
You could sorta do it with keys you wouldnt generally use, but then you may as well just use the one keyboard any way…

HIDMacros is a freeware app that lets you remap multiple keyboards:
